Extra Curriculars

There is so much for our students to take part in at SDJCA!

Stay tuned as we introduce a wide variety of activities that will become available for our students throughout the year.

There’s something for everyone!

Academic Bowl

SDJCA participates in the Providence Catholic’s Annual Junior High Academic Bowl. Participants in 7th and 8th grade are selected based upon their demonstrated proficiencies in Language Arts, Social Science, Science, Mathematics and Geography. The Academic Bowl includes both team and individual student competitions. Trophies are awarded to the top teams and individuals.

The Aquinas Society

Formed on the Jesuit model of Solidarity which historically prayed for the Church in times of persecution, the mission of The Aquinas Society will be to pray for the success and strength of our school and parish community; to grow in numbers, holiness and blessings. The Aquinas Society will begin each day together in group prayer, participate in works of charity and have the opportunity to participate in First Friday Mass and Adoration at St. Joseph Church on the North Campus.

Athletics

Our Athletic groups are open to all interested 5th – 8th grade students.

Program Offerings: Boys/Girls Volleyball, Boy/Girls Basketball, Boy/Girls Cross Country & Track, Girls Cheer, Flag Football, Co-Ed Volleyball

Band

Band is open to all 4th-8th grade students. Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced groups meet twice a week before and after school hours. Band members also participate in annual concerts with other schools within the Diocese of Joliet.

Chess

Chess Club is open to 4th – 8th grade students. This club provides an excellent opportunity for develop critical thinking skills, strategy and sportsmanship.

Choir

The SDJCA Choir is open to all 5th- 8th grade students. Choir meets on Mondays after school from 3-4pm. Choir sings at all school Masses on the North Campus/St. Joseph Church. Choir also performs for special school events. Solo opportunities are encouraged and mode available for Choir members.

Drama Club

New 2024-25!!! Drama Club is open to all 5th-8th grade students. There may be opportunities that arise for younger students for Spring musical appearances. Drama Club will run mid-October – mid-May. More details forthcoming…

Intramural Sports

Monthly rotations of sports are introduced and offered to K – 4th grade students.

The Lenten journey in the ELC includes the students, with their grownup’s guidance, choosing Random Acts of Kindness to practice during the 40 days.
